About the Attorney

My name is Jake Weinand. I’m a practicing estate planning attorney in the state of Minnesota. I started Next Generation Legal Services, LLC to offer estate planning services to individuals and families in a new and different way.
I approach the planning process as an open discussion, with the goals of clarifying and answering questions first and offering suggestions or ideas second. I have no desire to pressure anyone into paying for something they don’t want or need. My goal is to listen and to help you find the best and most affordable plan for you and your family.
About me:
I graduated from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in 2015. The same year, I graduated from the St. Thomas Opus College of Business with an MBA. Prior to graduate school, I received my Bachelor’s in Finance from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
I’ve always been drawn to estate planning. After graduate school, I worked for a top-ten national public accounting firm as an estate and trust tax associate. I enjoyed helping people focus on their own callings by simplifying their complex tax and trust issues. However, I was called to a position where I could offer estate planning services in a new and different way.
I left the accounting firm to provide educational estate planning services for the members of a local credit union. In addition, I formed Next Generation Legal Services, LLC to provide transparent, affordable, family first estate planning in a non-law firm environment. I meet with individuals and families remotely, at their home, or within a credit union branch. All initial meetings are free and designed to help individuals and families make sound estate planning decisions.
